Paris Marmoreal Tale of Marrage and a Carmelite Affair

A letter from Paris recounts a merry tale of a noble couple binding fortunes. A 12,000 livre yearly bride and groom wed with parish approval but a sick bride’s supper misfortune leads to a Carmelite priest’s sexual assault. The husband, innocent of the act, sues to annul the marriage. A later London affidavit describes legal theatre and unreliable evidence, exposing flaws in justice.
