Prince Victor Amedeus dies at 51 in Paris Palace

Paris April 8 reports the death of Victor Amedeus of Savoy Prince of Carignan at the Soislons Palace on the 4th instant at 11 PM age 51. The Opera House now owned by the Prince is said to be given by the King to the Duke de Gefvres, Governor of Paris, leading to the suppression of all public gaming there.

Fleet action off Porto-Bello and London notices

The Portobello report describes a naval engagement where Sir Chaloner Ogle sent transports to Jamaica and the fleet clashed with Spanish and French forces, claiming several ships lost and two gallions sunk, with many wounded yet a proclaimed victory.
