Morning Cabinet Report and Newgate Executions Mark May Day

A morning Cabinet Council at St James's led to a report on three condemned malefactors from last sessions at the Old Bailey. John Jones and John Davis are ordered for execution at Tyburn on Monday for highway robberies, while Henry Hart is reprieved for transportation. The report also notes a Barton-street violence over May-poles at Wooton near Gloucester, a fatal blaze in Hampstead, and a scolding row over a Swift poem alleged to be forged. Elsewhere in Scotland the Assembly outlines procedures for Brethren who protested against its sentences, with plans to suspend or censure offending ministers, and a Perth letter details Tay Bridge progress and local financial markets.
