THE Tumult formerly mentioned, in which a Servant of the Princefs Raleftrina was killed, has fince been entirely appeafed by the Af-fiftance of the Horfe and Foot Guards. On Friday the Sacred College held another Congregation in the Veftry Room of Sr. Peter's Church, wherein Signor Negroni, Treafurer, and Signor Sardini, Commiffary General at War, were difmifs'd from their Offices ; and Signor Sacripanti fubftiruted in the.room of the former, and Signor Ricci in that of the latter. On Saturday the- Cardinals Heads and others met again in Congregation, and chofe Father Gafparo Cerati Confeffor to the Conclave. At the fame time the Purveyor, Butler, Baker, and Steward of the Palace were fent home. The Pope's Corpfe having been expofed three Days in the Chappel of the Bleffed Sacrament, was removed into the Choir by the Priefts of St. Peter's, and laid in a Coffin of Cypreis Wood; which, after they had put in feveral Parcels of Gold, Silver and Copper Medals, in three Purfes, as ufual, was faften'd up, and depofited in the Vault over-againft that of Innocent VIII. Duke Perelli, a great Confident of Cardinal Cof-cia's, having received an Order to depart this City in 24 Hours, and the Territories of the Church in 3 Days, is gone Poft to Vienna ; tho' the Refolution for fending him away thus, was prefentiy recall'd, as a Step of the rafheft fort. The Abbot Ifoldi, Auditor to that Cardinal, difappears. The Counts Mi-ferti and Perucchi, two eminent Farmers of the Cuftoms, being fome thousands of Crowns in Arrear to the Chamber, are al-moft out of their Wits, and ran in their Fright to the Chevalier de St. George, defiring his Protection ; but he would have nothing to fay ro rbem. The Count de Giraldi, Farmer of the Tobacco Duty, has received Orders -from the Cardinals to pay in 60,000 Crowns, upon Account of what he is in Arrear to the late Pope. Signor Carolis, Commander of San Spiriro, is likewife fummoned before the Cardinals ; but we know not upon what Occafion. A Berlin was obferved to appear in the Garden of La Minerva, which, it feems, was Signor Santa Maria s, who went to the Princefs Sobieski's Confeffor, and, after the Ave Maria, retired to the Duke de Gravina's Palace upon Monte Savelli j but meeting with a Rebuff here, he returned to the Cioifter of La Minerva, where the Father General would not for a while admit him ; but at laft be granted Refuge both to him and to Cardinal Fini. The Marquis del Buffalo, who was turned out of his Place of Poft-Mafter-General, is returned hither from Sienna; and the Marquis de Carolis, who now enjoys that Office, has removed all bis Plate to the Bank call'd here Monte de la Vieta ; but whether by way of Security, or otherwife, is uncertain; The Ambaffador of Bologna has made Excufes to the Sacred Col-ledge, for the Conduct of bis Son the Chevalier Aldrovandi, in accompanying Cardinal Cofcia ro Marino j from whence his Emi-nency went to Ciftema, to feek for Shelter at the Palace of Prince Caferta, and to ask Pardon for the Affronts that had been put upon him. Afterwards the Cardinals held ibeir ufual Congregation, wherein Cardinal Cofcia's Anfwer was read ; and we are affured, bis Eminency will come to the Conclave as foon as his Health will permit. Prince Chigi, Great Marfhal of the Conclave, bad an Order written with the late Pope's own Hand, importing, that he fhould not raife any Soldiers during the Conclave, but make ufe of the Guards; and that he fhould ne-verthelefs be allowed 1000 Crowns a Month, as ufual: But the Congregation of Cardinals have refolved to al'ow him no more than 200 Crowns a Month, with 400 Soldiers to guard the Concave. Yefterday Morning the Venetian Ambaffador went in Stare to the Cardinals Heads, to execute a Commiflion on the Part of his Republick, and to deliver his Credentials to their Eminencies.
