Daily Courant (Newspaper) - March 7, 1730, London, Middlesex The Daily Courant. NQ. 8863. Saturday, March 7, 1719-30. Yeflerday arrived the Mail due from Holland. Petersburg, Feb. 18. N. S. OU R Letters from Mofcow advife, chac Baron Ofterman continued fo very ill, that they began to doubt of his Recovery. The new Czarina is expedted there from the 20th Inftant, every thing being ready for her Formal En. try. We hear there is to be a Great Council form'd of 40 Members, who are to examine and difpatch all Affairs of Importance; but there are not above 5 or 6 of thofe Counsellors yet named. Vienna, March 1: N. S. Their Imperial Majefties having received a Letter from the New Czarina of Mufcovy, to acquaint them with her Acceffion to the Throne of the Ruffian Empire, and to aifure them, that fhe will punctually perform all the Engagements formerly made between the two Courts; their Imperial Majefties difpatched an Ex-prefs for Mofcbw Yefterday, with a Letter of Congratulation for that Princefs, and new Instructions for Count Wratiflau, the Emperor's Ambaffador at the faid Courr. We are tolti, the Great Council of Rufila had declared to our Minifter jult named, that bis Imperial Majefty might depend upon the pro-mifed Succours, and that they fhould even be augmented in cafe of Need, and march for Tranfylvania and Hungary, to fupply the Place of the German Troops drawn from thence. On the 24th pad, this Court went into Mourning for rhe Death of the young Czar. Yefterday an Exprefs from Rome brought Advice'of the Pope's Death ; and this Day arrived another Exprefs from Count Sinzendorf at the Hague. Some Days ago, an extraordinary Cabinet-Council was again held at Court, upon the Affairs of Italy at which the Minifters of Tufcany and Parma aflifted Orders are fenr to fevcral Regiments of Cuiraffiers and Dragoons, and to a Reeimentof Huflars, in Hungary, Jo march to Italy ; and the fame to feveral Troops of Horfe which are in Bohemia, Moravia, Sile-fia, and Auilria. The Regiment of Foot of Alcadetti is to march into Garrifon at Fri-burg and old Brifac, from which Places 4 Battalions and 2 Companies of Grenadiers are to be drawn for Italy. The Elector of Bavaria has contented to the Paffage of the Imperial Troops thro' his Territories, provided they pay for their Provitions and For-rage, and commit no Diforders. It is reported, that the General Count Maximilian of Sraremberg, Governor of this City, will be nominated Commander in Chief of the Army in Italy. Schr.jfhaufcn, March 8. N. S. The Great i;uke of Tufcany and the Duke of .Parma arc faid to have declared to the Courts of France and Spain, That they cannot confent to the Introduction of a Succeifor with Foreign Troops into their Territories during their Lives. They write from Rove-redo, that aooo Peafants were actually employ 'd in repairing the Roads from that Place 10 Mantua, for the more commodious Paffage of the Troops fhortlv expected there : That a great Number of Veflels were getting ready upon the Lake de Garda, to carry over to Mantua the Heavy Baggage and Ammunition that are to come by the way of the Tyroleze and Trenttne : And that Quarters wcre already-provided for 15000 Foot and 5000 Horfe, who will be pofted along the Po, from Borgo-Forte to Pavia. The Imperal Battalion ot Wurmbrand, with the Company of Grenadiers; as alio two Squadrons of the Regiment of Cijirafllers of CarafTa. with the Troop of Carabineers, and the Company of Grenadiers of Waderborn, have rendezvous'd at Pilfen in Bohemia, and proceeded together for Italy. Some Letters fay, that no Ruffian Troops will be taken into the Emperor's Service, bur thofe of the Princes of the Empire in cafe of need. Hamburgh, March 1 o. N. S. Letters from Hanover unanimously confirm, that they are at work in all the Towns and Fortreffes of that Electorate, on the Military Preparations requisite for a Campagne,; but none of the Regiments, which are in Marching Order, were yet broke up for Eichsfelde, as bad been reported. They fay, they (hall know by the 14th Inftant, whether they {hail have Peace or War, They write from Berlin, rbar as foon as the King of Pruflia return'd from Drefden, he conferr'd with his Prime Mi-nifter; after which, his Majefty and that Minifter a/Tiffed in a Cabinet-Council; and when they broke up, feveral Exprefles were difpatched to the principal Courts. They add, that his Pruffian Majefty was preparing for another Journey j but it was not known which way. Cleves, March 11. N. S. There is nothing talk'd of here but War ; and among the reft, we are told there is to be a Camp of 12,000 Hollanders in our Neighbourhood the beginning of May*; to wit, upon the Mokerheyde, between Nimeguen and Grave. AH the Prince* of the Empire are compleating their Forces j and the Tooops of the Circles are to hold themfelves in a Readinefs to march upon the Emperor's Command. "Tis written from Ratisbon, that tbey are like to have the moft import Debates in the Dyet, that has been known for many Years; and namely, upon the Subject of the Treaty of Seville, which is to be laid before them ; and that to be provided againft all Events, feveral Minifters expected particular Inftructions from their refpective Courts. From Brunfwick we are advifed, that the King of Pruflia's Minifter, to fhew his Matter's good Inclination to put an amicable End to his Differences with the Court of Hanover, has made a new Pro-pofal to the Arbitrators, which gives ground to hope, that an Accommodation will foon be concluded. Paris, March 6. N. S. Every thing feems to portend a War: Men are forced into the Service here, as well as in the other Towns of the Kingdom, to complete the Regiments; and the Officers are ordered to their refpe'etive Pofts. Several Engineers are gone by Command to view the Fortifications of our Frontier Towns, and Care is taken to have the Money ready to make good all Deficiencies: But above all other Places, Metz is to be made impregnable. Men talk of the Count de Coigni and M. d'Asfelt to command the French Troops, which are to march to Iraly, if there be an urgent Neceflity. We hear there will be a Promotion of Marfhals ofs France out of hand. Count Kinski, the Emperor's Ambaffador, is preparing to return home; and 'tis faid the Pope's Death prevented the Ntincio*s being order'd to depart this Court. Paris, March 10. N. S. We have fenc to Vienna the Names of three Perfons, for the Emperor's Nomination of one of them to be Bifhopof Ghent, viz. the Prince of Hefle-Darmftad, Prince Alexis of Naflau, Titular Archbifhop, aod M. Strickland, Bifhop of Namur: But 'tis thought the firft will have it.
