THE 28th of May, being Whitfan, day, the Czarina received the Compliments of the Lords and Ladies of the Court upon that Occafion j after which, her Czarian Majefty did Count Wratiflau, the Emperor's AmbafTador, the Honour to inveft him with the Collar of the Order of St. Andrew, which fhe had con-ferr'd upon him. The fame Day, that Prin-cefs and the Dutchefs of Mecklemburg her Sifter went on Foot to our Cathedral Church, and heard Divine Service; which done, her Czarian Majefty return'd to the Palace, and gave Audience to M. de Weftphalen, Envoy-�xtraordinary of the King of Denmark, and to the Count de Bonde and Major-General Tefiin, Minifters of the Duke of Holfteyn-Gottorp, who deliver'd their new Credentials to her Czarian Majefty. On the 49th, the Czarina fupp'd at General Wafili Fedo-rowitz Soltikofs, the Governor of this City. Two Days ago, ber Majefty made a Vifitto the Czarina-Dowager, Godmother to the late Czar, Peter II. Her Czarian Majefty is preparing to go to Ifmaelof, a Country-Palace fome Leagues off, to pafs fome Days there. fVoffaw, June fi. N. S. Letters from Podolia advife, that the contagious Sicknefs, which had raged in thac Province, was entirely ceafed ; and this was attributed in a great meafure to the Care taken by M. Po-ciewski, Enfign of the Crown,' who march'd thither with fome Troops, and guarded the Pates, TheBifhopof Plocko and the Staroft Belski are arriv'd here. The Treafurer of the Crown and rhe Caftellan of Czesky are gone to Radom, to execute a Commiflion. Dant^kk, June 14.. N. S. The Duke of Mecklemburg went to the Convent of Oliva the 5th Inftant, only for a conceal his Departure. That Prince'went on Board a Ship the fame Day. which waited for him upon the Coaft, and fleered toward the Coaft of Pomerania ; and thus we knew nothing �of his Departure till after he had been gone fome Days. The Ancients of the Proteftant Congregations of this City, Elbing and other Places, lately met to confider of fome proper Method of celebrating the Jubilee of the Confeilion of Augsburg, and refoived to do it without any Show.* They write from Mittau, that Duke Ferdinand of Courlaod was fomewhat better, but not entirely out of Danger; and that the Ruffian Troops in that Province made fome Motions from time to time. Our Letters from Peterf-burg confirm, tfhat they are equipping fe-veral Men of War and Gallies in that Port, as well as at Cronflot and Revel; and that the Troops quarter'd thereabout are or-der'd ro be ready to march upon the firft Warning. On Sunday laft the Emperor came to Town to aflift at the fo-lemn Proceffion of the Jefuites on Account of the Feftival of Corpus Cbrtfii; and return'd to Laxemburg the fame Afternoon, from whence the Court will remove to the Palace of the Favourita the zld Inftant, Two Days a-go, the Count d'Oedt, Counfellor- Regent of Lower Auftria, fet out for Triefte, in the Quality of the Emperor's Commiilary, to open the Annual Fair which his Imperial Majefty has granted to that Port, with feve-ral other Privileges for the Improvement of their Commerce. This Fair is to be opened the 1 ft of Auguft next. We have received Advice, that the Oriental Company's Ship from Lisbon, which bad been obliged to put in at Seville, was fafely arrived at Triefte, after having been chafed fome time by the Corfairs of fiarbary. Her Cargo confifts of Sugar, Tobacco, and fundry other Merchandizes. They write from Hungary, thac upon the 7th of May they began a new Foun-dery with very good Succefs at. Maydanpek in the fiannat of Temefwaer, where there are rich Copper-Mines; that on the 9th of the fame Month the .firft Stone was laid of a Parifh Church there; and that upon the 30th, they fern a large Quantity of Provisions to Temefwaer, by the River of Bega, which is render'd aavigable by. Means of a Sluice. Several Proteftant Families and others are ^one thro' this Place, in their way to fettle in the Bannat of Belgrade. On the loth Inftant, the Court received a Courier that came from Paris the 30th of laft Month, with the Vltimatum of the Allies of Seville. The famf Day, the Imperial Minifters held a grand Conference at Laxemburg, to draw up a ' proper Anfwer to be return'd to that Vltims-tum. On the 11 th there was another Conference at Prince Eugene's upon the fame Subject; at which the Heads of the refpe&ive Colleges wereprefenr. We do not. yet know the Refult of thofe Conferences, nor the Day when that Courier willbe.fenc.bacjc with the Emperor's Anfwer. Two Days ago, the.Field-Marfhal Count Merci fet out for bis Eftate in Hungary, from> whence be.vfill ge to Italy by the way of Croatia, in order to take upon him the Command of the Imperial Troops. Some other Generals"-alfo fet out the fame Day and Yefterday for Italy ; and they will fpeedily be Jbllow'd by the few that remain here. The Commiflions of all thefe Generals are pafs'd the Seals without any Expence to them, by the Dire,dr.ion of Pri/ice Eugene; aftd they have receiv'd 4. Months Pay Advance. The Bifhop of Bam-ber&and Wurtzburg, Vice-Chancel/or of the Empire, gave a magnificent Repair, two Days ago, to Prince Eugene of Savoy, and the General Officers that are to command in Italy. That Prelate appHes himfelf with great j^fiduity to the Affairs which regard the Em- pire. The new Levie's are carry*d on in our Suburbs, and in the Towns of the Hereditary Countries, with alt the Succefs that can be de-fired, and they enlift none but chofen Men. MJ Schroder, Counfellor to the Duke of Mecklem-, burg, returned hither fome Days ago ; and went immediately to M. Landzinski's, Mini-fter of Ruffia, and had a long Conference with him. We hear that in the laft Audience M. Landzinski had of the Emperor, he delivered to his Imperial Majefty a Letter from the Czarina his Miftrefs, wherein, after, fhe has repeated her AfTurances that fhe wilt exactly perform the Conditions ftipulated in the Treaties between the two Courts, and efpecially in what concerns the March of the 30,000 Ruffians, fhe recommends to his Imperial Majefty the Interefts of the Duke of Mecklemburg, and that he may be refto-red to his Dominions. Hamburgh, June 23. N. S. 'Tis con-firm'd from Mecklemburg, that the Troops of Hanover and Wolfembuttel, which are in that Dutchy, have fo weli fecured the Pafles, that it will be impoffible for the Garrifons of Domitz and Schwerin to make any Excurfions. It is even fai'd, they have left only a fraall Tradb of Land for that Prince to hunt in. They write from Copenhagen, that Lieutenant-General Baron de Verfchure, and M. Moos, Counfellors of the Regency, were gone thro' that Place, on their way from CafTei to Stockholm: That two Fregates, from 36 to 40 Gups each, are fitting out at Chriftiana in Norway, defign'd for the Eaft-Indies ; and that they are to take on board 400 Perfons of both Sexes, to fettle a Colony in an Ifland fituate near the Coaft of Malabar. Grenada, June 2. N. S. On the 5 th Inftant the Court will 'fet our for Cazalla, a Village of Andalufia, bordering upon the Kingdom of Leon, 12 Leagues from Seville.' The Country round that Place is the mo ft delightful of air the Province, the Heat being moderated by the neighbouring Mountains of Sierra Morena. Their Majefties have refoived to divert themlelves with Hunting there fome time, the Country affording Plenty of Game. The Dutchefs de San Pedro will attend the King and Queen to Ca* zallaj after which, file will return to France,1 with the Marquis de Renel, her Son. Don Lelio Caraffa, defcended from the Dukes o� Matadona, is made a Major-General $ but will not be declared fb, till his Majefty makes the General Promotion he defigns in cafe of a War. New Orders are fent to the refpe&ive Ports of this Kingdom, concerning the Embarkation of the Troops and Ammunition.' All the Tranfports are ready for that Expedition, and have received Two Months Pay' Nothing is now wanting but the Marquis de Spinola's Return, to fet it a going. falmouthl ;
