Daily Courant (Newspaper) - June 17, 1730, London, Middlesex Wednefday^ June 17, 1730. fyme, June 3. N. S. IT appears that a new Party has been form'd in the Conclave in favour of Cardinal Davia, fupported by the French Faction, which was join'd by Cardinal Ferreri and his Party, purfuaac to the Orders which his Eminency bad receiv'd by an Exprefs from the King of Sardinia, which arrived here on Saturday from Turin. In the Scrutiny on Monday, Cardinal Davia had 19 Votes; but we are told, the Canvafs in his Eminer.cy's Favour took a contrary Turn that Day, by fome fecret Intrigues, and cut off all Expectation of his mounting the Throne. That Night, the Minifiers of Sardinia difpatch'd an Exprefs to Turin, with an Account of all that had pafs'd in relation to Cardinal Davia. The Cardinal de Po-lignac has likewife fent a Courier to France;. Letters from Benevento are full of the rigorous Proceedings of Signor Bondelmonte, the Apoftolick Commifiary, againft the Creatures of rhe Cofcia Family and others, who bad any Share in the Adminiftration during the Pontificate of Benedict XIII. That Prelate having order'd Canon Pelegrini, Librarian and Keeper of the Records of the Diocefe of Benevento, to deliver him fome Papers that he wanted to infpect, the Canon peremptorily Tefufed him, and told him he bad no Right to demand any fuch Papers. Signor Bondelmonte thereupon prepared to oblige him to it; but the Canon protefted againft his Proceedings, and fled. At the fame time, the Arcbprieft of Leuza convey'd to Signor Bondelmonte an Inftrument, thre*tning to excommunicate him in the Name of Signor Targa, Cardinal Cofcia's Brother, if he did not give over fuch violent Courfes. Hereupon the ConimifTary clapt the Archprieft up in Prifon, and difpatch'd an Exprefs to acquaint the Sacred College with what he had done ; in Anfwer to which, the Cardinals Heads of Orders have not only approved Signor BondelmOnte's Conduct, but have directed him to profecute the Arcbprieft with the utttjoft Severity. Cardinal Benti-voglio has received from Spain the Pictures of the Infantes Don Carlos and Don Philip, to be prefente nnd Mcnns of preferving the Pubhck Credit. We hear the Czarina of Mulcovy has made fome Pro-pofals to this Court, for restoring Duke Charles Leopo.'d of Mecklemburg tj his Dominions: Tis plain, that Princefs has her Brocher-in-La-A's Intereft very much at Hearc. M. Verporcn, who has refided here for tome time as iV-inifier of Duke C hriftian-Lew;s of Mecklemburg, nominated Administrator of that Dutchy by the Emperor, is fet ouc on his Return to ihc Dcke his Matter. An Exprels is arrived here from Constantinople, being dispatched by M. Some Advices from Constantinople fay, Suitan Efref was ar-^ rived there, having made a narrow Efcapc after the Defeat of his Army by Prince Tha-mas, who caufed him 10 be purfued by. 30,000 Horfe ; infomuch that he was r bilged to abandon his Men, and to give out that he was murdered, the better to conceal his Flight. He makes preffing Inftances to the Ottoman Porte to furnifh him an Army fuffi-cient to recover the Throne of Perfia ; and backs them with this Argumenr, that it they; give Prince Thamas Time to eftablifh him-felf in Perfia, he will toon re-annex to his Kingdom the Provinces yielded to the Turks; cfpecially feeing he is powerfully fupported by the Great Mogul. Dahlman, the Emperor's Resident, to fend his Phytician tO him, who has the Reputation of a very skilful Man, and is made ufe of by the Grand Seignor him leif. Vienna, June 7. N. S. This Evening the EarJ Waldegrave his Britannick Majefty's Minister Plenipotentiary at this Courr, intends to fet ouc for England by the Way of Paris. � Deal, June 15.
