Daily Courant (Newspaper) - January 3, 1730, London, Middlesex The Daily Courant No. 880$* Saturday, January 3, 17x9-30- Yefterday arrived the Mail from France. Verfailles, January 5. N. S. ON" the 1 ft Inftant, the Princes and jPrinceffes of the Blood, and the iLords and Ladies of the Court, had the Honour to compliment the King and Queen upon the New Year. The Prevofl its Merchands and Echevins, accompanied by the other Officers of the Corps de VtHe,va\& their Refpe&s to their Ma-jefties, Monfrigneur the Dauphin, and Mef-dames de France, upon that OccaGon. The fame Day, the King, accompanied by the Duke of Orleans, the Count de. Charor lois, the Prince of Dombes, the Count of Eu, the Count de Touloufe, and the Knights, Commanders and Officers of the Orders, who met in his Majefty's Cabinet, went to the Chappel of the Caftle. The King, before whom the two Serjeanrs of the Chamber car-Tied their Maces, was in the Mantle and Col-Jar of rhe Order j as were Jikewife the Knights: His Majefty heard High Mafs celebrated by the Abbot Tefnieres, Chaplain in Ordinary to the Chappel of Mufick, and fung to Mufick. The Queen, accompanied by the Ladies of her Court, heard the fame Mafs in her Gallety. On the jd, her Majefty received the Communion in the Chappel of the Caftie, from the Hands of the Abbot de Chevriers, her Chaplain in Waiting. The fame Day, Count Golofkin, Am baf-fador-Extraordinary of the Czar, had a Private Audience of the King in his Cabinet, and complimented his Majefty in the Name of the Czar, upon the Birch of the Dauphin. He was conducted to that Audience by the Count de Monconfeil, Inrrodudtor of Am-bafladors. The Bifhop of Limoges having defired the King to accept the Resignation of his Bi-fhoprick, his Majefty has nominated the Abbot de Lifle du Gaft to fucceed him. The King has given the Abbey of Relecq, of the Order of Cifterrians, in the Diocefe of St. Pol de Leon, to the late Bifhop of Limoges ; that of St. Chignan, of the Order of Sr. Benedict, in the Diocefe of St. Pons, to the Bifhop of Graffe; that of St. Savin, of the fame Order, in the Diocefe of Tarbes, to the Abbot de Montlezun ; that of Poultieres, of the fame Order, in the Langres, to the Abbot de Caudron de Cantin ; that of Jout-phat, of the fame Order, in the Diocefe of Chartres, to the Abbot Feydeau de Brou ; the Regular Abbey of St. Sulpice, of the Order of Cifterrians, in the Diocefe of Bel-Jey, to Dom Rigoley j the Abbey of -Cana-nefles of St. Remfircfy at Denain, to Made-moifelle Omere de Liers, Canonefs of that Houfe; the Abbey of Preaux, of the Order of St. Benedict in the Diocefe of Liffieux, to Madame de Roban-Guemene; and that of Sr. Sermin de Rhodez, of the fame Order, to Madame du Bourg du Mayne. On New-Year's Day, Monfieur de Pele-tier des Forts, Comptroller-General of the Finances, and Moniieur d'Angervilliers, Secretary at War, took their Places in the Council of State for the firft Time. The King has conferred the Government of Fort de Barault upon Monfieur Defponty, Major-General, and Lieutenant-Colonel of the Regiment of French Guards. Monfieur de Contade. Lieutenant-General, who was Major of that Regiment, is made Lieutenant-Colonel of the fame; and he is fucceed-ed as Major by the Count de Chabanes. Paris, Jan. 7. N. S. Monfieur de Laval, Major of the Regiment of Foreft, is made Major of the Fortrefs of Landau. The .Bifhop of Nifmes is nominated Deputy of the Province of Languedoc, for the fZeneril AffembW of the. The Abbot de Thefut has bequeathed 200,000 Livres. to his Relations; 500 Livres a Year for Life to each of his Footmen, and his Wearing;Apparel to the firft j 1400 Livres a Year, for Lite alfo, to his Steward j and 400 Livres a Year to bis Cook. 'Tis laid he left behind him above 800,000 Livres In Ready Money, belides a great deal of Plate and fine Furniture. The Marquis de la Ferce has refignM the Regiment or Foot of La Manche. Mademoifelle de Beaujolois has been ill of a lever, for which fhe was twice let Blood in rhe Foor. The Count de Luce, eldeft Son to the Prince de Tingri, will fhorrly be married to Mademoifelle d' Albert, only Daughter of the Count d' Albert, Envoy-Extraordinary of the Duke of Bavaria at this Conrc. Monfieur Lefcalopier, Son to the Intendant of Chalons, waslaft Wtek admitted Advocate-General, in rhe Great Council, in the room of Monfieur d' Anby. Monfieur Perubon, Brother in-Law to Monfieur de Senofan, is nominated Prevofl des Marchands of the City of Lyons. Monfieur Turmemes d� Monrigny is continued in the P.'ace of Keeper of the Royal Treasury, in the roomof his Brother deceas'd; and his Nephew is made his Aflfiftant in the Exercife of that Office. It is thought the Sieurs Bours and Bartme will fhortly come out of Prifon, having con-fign'd to the Royal Treafury, in Money or Goods; the Sums for which they were de-tain'd. The Marquis be Richelieu has been very ill for fome time paft. The Comedians begin to play again this Day in the Theatre at Courr. On the 3d of next Month, their Majefties will return to Marli, and ftay there tilf the firft Saturday in Lent. The Place of Minifter ol State is worrh 15,000 Livres a Year. There was made for the Dauphin, on pur-pofe to receive the Compliments of the New Year in, a Scarlet Mantle faced with Spanifh Gold Point, with the Holy Ghoft embroider'd upon it. On New Year's Day, that young Prince's Nurfe received magnificent Prefents from the King, the Queen, the Corp de Villa of Paris, and the principal Lords and Ladies of the Court. Meflire Alexander Gaudechard, Count d'Effevifie, Lieutenant-General of the King's Armies, Great Crofs of the Pvoyal and Military Order of Sr. Lewis, Governor of the Forr of Baraulr, and formerly Lieutenant of the Firft Troop of his Majefty's LifcGuards, died here the ift Inftant, aged 74. Meflire John Baptift-Henry de TroufTot de Valincour, Secretary to the Navy, one of the 40 Members of the French Academy, and Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences, died here the 5th, in the 77th Year of his Age. He was formerly Secretary to the Kings Chamber arid Cabinet. Lisbon, Dec. 1. N. S. Don Jerome-Simon de Cceur* Surgeon and Man-Midwife to the Queen, has obtain'd a Patent of the King, creating him and his Iffue Nobles, with the fame Honours and Prerogatives that are annex"d to the Titles of Caftile. - Petersburg, Dec 4. N. S. The young Prince Nanskin, who is related to the Czar, and was lately made Governor of the New Conquefts in Perfia, with a Salary ol 30,000 Rubles a Year, will not go to take Polfrtfion of that Government j and we hear the Czar defigns to give him that of the Provinces yielded by the Crown of Sweden, Dartmouth, Dec. jo.
