LETTERS from Rome, of rhe 14th paft, import, that the Pope bad been much tndifpofed for fome Days of (he Gouc in his Stomach, but was -recover'd by the Ufe of Revulfive Remedies: That upon the nth of that Month, the Holy Father held a Private Con-fiftory; wherein, after having confirmed federal Bifhops, and nominated Cardinal Aldo-brandini Legate of Bologna, Cardinal Gri-maldi Legate of Ferrara, and Cardinal Maf-fei Legate of Ravenna, he publickly declared, that the Cardinal he had referved in petto, was M. Corfini, his Nephew ; which was made known to the People by firing rhe Guns of Caftle St. Angelo; and that new Cardinal has fince received the Vifits of rhe Sacred.College, and of the principal Roman Nobility. They were very much furprized at Rome, to hear that Cardinal Cibo, who had been fo indefatigable in carrying on the Caufe about the Grand Priory of Rome, would nor, after all, accept of ir, becaufe the Pope had granted a considerable Pen Hon to be paid out of it to Cardinal Coriini, his Nephew ; and iiis Holinefs has given it to Cardinal Rufpoli, who has accepted of ir, notwithstanding the Incumbrance upon ir. By Letters from Seville, of the 15th,'we are aflured, that the Queen of Spain had been indifpofed for fome Days, but was perie&ly recovered. The Abbot'Landi, formerly �n-voy of the Duke of Parma at the Court of France, and afterwards at that of Rome, was arrived there. The Sickaefs ac Cadiz and Places adjacent was not yet ceafed, notwith-ftanding they had bad Froft for feveral Days, but fome Perfons ftill die of ir. They write from Barcelona, that the Count -de Rottemburg fet out thence, the i zth paft, proceeding on his Journey, to Seville. The, iSth paft, being the Feftival of the Holy Innocents, a Page of the King's Mufick, aged 15 Years, was permitted $tr Extraordinary to beat Time, while a Piece of his Cothpofirfg was fung at the King's and Queen's MafTes ; which gain'd him a general Applaufe. The 29th, about Sis o'CIock in the Evening, the King came to Town, to fee the Opera of Phaeton ; and about half, an Hour after Eight, his Majefty fet out again to go and fup in the Caftle of Le Muette. It has been determined, that the Journey to Marli fliafl be but zo Days, to wit, from the 7th Inftant to the 27th ; and the Court will return thither the Day after Candlemas-Day, and ftay till the firft Saturday in Lent, The Marquis de Chabanet-Colbert will fhortly be marry'd to Mademoifelle de Croif-fy, Daughter to the Count of that Name, and Niece to the Marquis deTorcy. We are affufed, that the Marriage which has been fo long treating between the Duke of Guaftalla and the JPrihcefs Mary-Eleanor of Hblfteyn-Wifenburg, is at laft concluded, They likewife talk of a Marriage between the Count de Hardegg, Son to the Emperor's Great Huntfman,. and the Daughter of Count. Sinkendorfr) Great Matter of the Court. Two Days ago, their Imperial Majefties went in Sledges to Mauerbach, where they Yefterday; took the Divcirfion of Hunting the Wild Boar.' Hattsbon, Dec. 15. N.S. Several Minifters of Proteftant Powers have reprefewed to the Evangelical Body, the Necefiity there is, cori-fidering the Congrefs of Soiflbns is broke up, to make frefh Ihftances to the Imperial Court for the Local Commi/fion formerly promifed, the Demand whereof was difcontinued only; in hopes the Differences about Religion would have been fettled in the faid Congrefs; and we are told it has been refolved to meet out of band, and draw up a Memorial to be prefented by the Evangelical Body to his Imperial Majefty upon that Subject. The Minifter of Prnifia has received Order* from bis Court, to declare to the Evangelical Body,)that the King his Mafter had order'd a general Collection to be made throughout his Territories for the Proteftant Churches and Schools at Germermeim. Prince Jofeph of Furftenburg is gone thro' this Place, on his way to Bohemia. Hamburgh, Dec. z6. N- S. They write from Copenhagen, that M. de StotterheimJ who. was formerly in the Service of the Margrave of Culmbacb, bas been, nominated to come hither in the Qualicy of his DanifhMa^ jetty's Refident, in the room of M. Hohen*' muhlen deceafed. .  Cologn, Dec. 2.9. N. S. Letters from Bonn inform us, that Count Konirjgfek is fpeedily ex^pdSfed there from Bruffels, to execute a Secret Commiflion from the Emperor to the. Elector oP Cologn. From Frankfort we are advifed, that Prince Alexander of Wirtem^ berg was expected there on his Return from Stiitgard to his Government of Belgrade; and is reported that the Princefs his Lad� will ftay at Frankfort. Dtiffeldorp, Dec. 29. N. S. His Electoral Highnefs our Sovereign has fent Orders to all the Receivers of this Dutchy, to pay in the Taxes readily and without any Delay, whenever they fhall be call'd upon, that the Troops may not be in Arrears. The Recruits 'are railing with fo good Sticcefs, that we do not doubt the Regiments will be complete before the End ofnext Month. They write* from Manheim, that extraordinary PrepariJ tions .are making there, for celebrating the! Marriage of the Prince of Sukzbach with the Princefs of HefTe-Rottemburg. ~ Brujfels, Dec. z%. N. S. An Exprefs is arrived here from Vienna, with Orders to augment the National Regiments with foui, Companies each. The Officers, to facilitate the Railing of the Recruits, have obtain'd Leave to enroll Perfons for eight Years, and not for Life, as is pradtifed among the Imperial Troops. The Regiment of Wefterlo's Dragoons is likewife to be augmented with two Squadrons. Deal, Dec. 18.'
