UMWA Holiday Fallout on Vancouver Island Coal Fields
A year after protests by the United Mine Workers of America over alleged discrimination, Vancouver Island mines on Comox and Extension resumed operations. The Cumberland area reports sustained output despite union opposition, with initial production noted at 120 tons on Oct 1 1912 and 2290 tons by Sept 8 1913, while the union remains unrecognized by Canadian Collieries.
