Major Hilton J.P. visited, and a coroner investigated the Campbell River death of Peter Norris, an Indian fisherman, burned in his boat on Sept 28.

Chief Stephenson Retires After 35 Years in BC Service
Chief of Provincial Police David Stephenson has received notice of his superannuation at month end. He served thirty five years in the force and began as a police officer in 1878 with the London Metropolitan Police before moving to British Columbia in 1879. Pte. John Lawrence Matthews of Vancouver Island, aged twenty one, killed in action September 15. He had joined the Princess Pats in 1914 with McGill University reinforcements, left studies to serve, and was last stationed in the trenches. His father, J. Three Chinamen Charged With Attempted Murder in Chinatown
Tan Ham Tan Hing and Chin Bing appeared in the provincial Police Court before Magistrate Bickle on Monday charged with attempt to murder Mah Yein in Chinatown. P. P. Harrison and J. A.
