Four Candidates In Comox Electoral District Nomination

Returning Officer John J. Wier closed nominations at 1 p.m. on Wednesday leaving four candidates in the Comox electoral race after John Thomas Smith withdrew. The field includes William Wallace Burns McInnes and others with designations and supporters listed.

BC Teachers Federation leader addresses Comox group

McInnes Opens Campaign In Comox District

Independent Liberal candidate W W B McInnes addressed a large Ilo Ilo Theatre audience in Comox District promising to focus on real issues and avoid personal attacks. New Railway Time Table Goes Into Effect Monday

The Wellington Colliery Railway introduces Time Table No. 5 effective Monday morning November 15. The Cumberland morning train will depart at 9 a.m. instead of 10 30. Mails south close at 8 a.m. The schedule aligns with H N railway changes and enables Courtenay southbound departures an hour earlier to connect with the Vancouver boat at Nanaimo on Tue Thu and Sat.

Anderson Wins Unanimous Nomination At Campbell River Convention

Campbell River hosts 88 Conservative delegates for Comox Electoral District where D R McDonald polled 36 votes and W B Anderson 52, leading to a unanimous nomination for Anderson. Anderson, cannery businessman with Yukon and Ontario roots, will address Cumberland voters at Ilo Ilo Theatre outlining his district policy.

Armistice Day Observed With War Trophy Unveiling

Cumberland marks Armistice Day with the placement of two small machine guns and a field gun presented by the War Trophies Commission. Bronze Memorial Tablet For G W V A Memorial Hall

Big attendance as council discusses Armistice Day memorial at Memorial Hall. G W V A delegates Brown O'Brien and Owen propose a bronze tablet with 16 names, costing about 75 dollars for a tablet and 40 dollars for a monument, with the list to grow open until December. Reception for Mr and Mrs Comley at Mumford home

The Rev F and Mrs Comley hosted a reception Thursday at the Mumford residence on Maryport Avenue to renew acquaintances with many friends. The couple, looking better after their holiday, left Friday for Metchosin where Mr Comley will take charge of the parish.

Referee Struggles as Island League Match Degenerates

Cumberland traveled to Granby for an Upper Island League contest that devolved into rough play and fights. Referee inability to control the match led to multiple sendoffs, injuries, and spectator aggression, ending in a scoreless draw. Conti Irvine and Horne stood out for Cumberland while Granby defenders Hewitt and Roberts shone, but the game highlighted unsafe conditions and poor protection for visiting players.
