Wellington Colliery Power Deal Extends Island Reach
Government extends the Wellington Colliery Company power selling area from Duncan to Courtenay and across to Alberni. The move supports bulk power sales to the Canadian Utilities for Puntledge development, estimated at 22 400 horsepower, aiding coal mining energy needs while avoiding high grade coal use. Canadian Utilities backs the arrangement, and no concrete line-extension plans are disclosed yet.
