Courtenay exploded for 9 runs by the second inning, driving in a 12–5 win over Union Bay. McNiel and Dixon sparked early offense with key hits and stealings, while Curtis, Drosky, and McGoldrick contributed multi RBI performances as Courtenay built a large lead before Union Bay could mount a late charge.

Wellington Galleries Company's property has been taken over by a new firm after final payment. New general manager M L Coulson is expected soon to inspect holdings. Plans include four new shafts, larger local output, more workers, and a three million dollar investment over two years to develop Cumberland.
Denman Island hosts a grand strawberry festival and dance drawing about eighty attendees from Union Bay and Fanny Bay. Music by Percy Smith and Mrs. A. McLaughlin complemented a late night of dancing and a dinner featuring strawberries and cream. The Denman Island Stone Co. ships another seow load to Vancouver as Geo. Donne begins a new logging claim on the island’s east side.
The Department of Education plans to raise Cumberland City from a third class to a second class district with five trustees. The move will cost about 480 per year in local taxes and reduce government grants from 660 to 90 per teacher annually. A public election for two more trustees is required, and funds for provincial aid will shrink as attendance fluctuates.

A Saturday accident south of the Trent River bridge derailed eleven coal cars after rail spread, tearing up over fifty yards of track. Engine No. 14 and two loaded cars crossed the break safely, but the following cars derailed. A wrecking crew reopened the line late Sunday. freight and travellers trunks had to be moved by hand a hundred yards at the scene.
Friday evening at Sandwick a close football match ended 2 1 in favor of Courtenay. Courtenay struck late to win with a decisive goal just before the final whistle. Notable players include A Piercey Harmaton Calhoun for Sandwick and Beaton for Courtenay.
