Enjoyable Dance in Comox for Rainbow Crew

A lively dance and social in Comox hosted by P Hullat for the HiM.C.S. Rainbow crew. Music by Mr and Mrs Martin and others, with Nellie Mullen and P O Bligh performing. The hall was crowded, dancing ran late, and a return entertainment on board was invited.

Cumberland Choral Union Social Evening Highlights Primeval Fun

The Cumberland Choral Union held its first social evening in Odd Fellows Hall on Thursday. Local artistes included Chas Tvish Jas Aston J Banner Seoteli camedian Bert Axton Jao McLaughlin and Thos Lewis. A political turn about Women's Suffrage followed a generous supper. Mr John Barierman spoke in favor of suffrage while Dr Hicks offered provocative remarks. Mrs J Gillespie chaired and urged membership as the crowd sang Auld Lang Syne.

Alderman Beveridge pushes increased valuation in council action

Big Power Dam Collapses At Union Bay

A major dam belonging to Canadian Collieries Co. Ltd at Union Bay failed after a heavy rain period. A wall of water 15 feet high devastated the town, washed out telegraph lines and railway tracks, and caused significant material losses estimated between 40 000 and 90 000 dollars. One Japanese resident is confirmed dead, and a second body has not been found. Rescue work and warnings occurred as the flood overwhelmed the area and the government telegraph office was swept away. The Partridge family narrowly escaped with children and goods saved at the Wilson Hotel Brom area.
