The Cumberland Bevan and Union Bay Patriotic War Fund reports receipts of 431,463.41 since 1914 with 31,802.25 expended and 11,661.16 remaining in Royal Bank of Canada Cumberland. The fund has 41 families supported. no salaries, monthly grants from 20 up to 67.50. Also noted: Spanish influenza expenses 1,787.29 for School Isolation Hospital, possible provincial aid. City Council Holds Dec 8 Meeting Briefly

The regular City Council session in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening December 8, with Mayor Harrison presiding, adopted minutes and addressed hospital and financial items. Nurses who aided during the influenza epidemic were to be thanked and possibly paid, and the court of revision updated voters lists with several removals and additions.

Provincial Court Convicts Two in Deer Hunting Case

In Courtenay the Provincial Police Court found A R Kierstead and Charles Reynolds guilty of hunting deer with a head light near Oyster River. Each received 80 days imprisonment with no hard labor. Appeals were filed and bail of 250 dollars each was set.
