Fraser sockeye salmon at risk as Pacific fishery declines

A British Columbia report notes the Fraser River sockeye run collapsed after 1913, with 1917 and 1921 packs far smaller. The shift to pink and chum during wartime underlines stock depletion. Conservation and cross border treaties are urged to curb fishing and protect this valuable fish.

Their Bluff Called Bolshevists in Canada Exposed

The Sentinel argues Bolshevists in Canada feign admiration for the Russian Soviet regime while opposing deportation. It claims they would leave for Trotsky and Lenin if offered free passage and funds, branding them hypocrites and dangerous demagogues as the government moves to deport peace disturbers.

Canadian Red Cross Gifts Two Hospitals to London and Birmingham

The Canadian Red Cross Society has funded two new hospitals for London and Birmingham. The King lent Upper Lodge, Bushey, to equip the King’s Canadian Red Cross Convalescent Hospital for delicate children, with about eight acres of grounds. The total value of the London hospital is about 120000 dollars. The Birmingham unit uses Queen Alexander Wards 1 and 2 and Saskatchewan and Manitoba Wards from Taplow with nurse quarters at The Lodge Taplow, capable of caring for around seven hundred children. The gift aligns with Baby Week and the new Ministry of Health, praised by Colonel Blaylock for strengthening ties between London and Canada.
