The Stars defeated Courtenay 18 to 7 in a high scoring, error prone game. Courtenay led early but Stars pitcher Stant shut them down in the fourth as Stars surged with multiple hits and errors by Courtenay. Final scoring shows a wild back and forth before Stars pulled away in the later innings.

Hugh Stewart of Comox holds an auction August 17 for farm assets. Thomas G Hogan of Island Investment Co visits Victoria for business. Will Clinton departs tonight for Lehigh University.
J. W. Whiteley, provincial organizer for the Loyal Orange Lodge in British Columbia, spoke in Cumberland Hall on Wednesday evening. He argued the Orange Order is misunderstood, stressed opposition to Rome as political power, and claimed Rome sought to encroach on Protestants. He cited Canadian church school policy as proof and called for new member applications amid applause.
Courtenay anglers spent days fishing Oyster and Campbell Rivers with usual good bags reported. The 8, 8 Spokane sailed under its own steam last Sunday. Dr Gillespie visited Oyster River Hotel in a Ford and plans a return. Mark Coe fished Oyster River for a week. Bush fires raged around Campbell River hampering timber limits. George Roe of Union Bay fished Campbell River for Tyee salmon, with season’s largest 55 pounder dressed caught by an Indian.
Obituary notes the death of Mr. Thomas Cairns in Comox Valley aged 71 with funeral held at a Presbyterian cemetery. The local Lawn Tennis Club hosted the annual open tournament with men’s and women’s singles results and handsome prizes awarded amid keen competition.
