LOUIS, Sept. 12—(AP)—Police were called to the home of Floyd Carroll early today to bring his 20-year-old wife, Madge, out of a hypnotic spell.They found her pale, seemingly lifeless and with a vacant stare in her eyes. First aid methods failed to “break the spell” and the officers were baffled. “Send for Chikola,1’ Mrs. Carroll said feebly. “He put me in this trance and he’s the only one who can get me out.” Mrs. Car was taken to City Hospital v,i. .» a physician said she was suffering from hysteria. A sedative was administered and she was returned home. Under questioning, she revealed that she had attended a theater last night featuring “Chickola the great hypnotist. When he had called for volunteers she had mounted the stage. Chikola felt her head and made passes with his hands. She fainted. Recovering, she went home where she Tainted again. Her husband then called police.“There was nothing unusual in my act,” Chikola told police when questioned. “I put her' into a trance, brought her out and sent her home.
