Apolonio Carmona, a young Mexican of twenty years, and Jose Dolores UOlgin, another native son just 18, hada fight early Sunday morning on SouthPecos avenue over a debt of sevendollars the latter is said to have owedthe former, and although the olderhov got the hotter of it as long astliev were using their fists and gaveUis debtor a severe beating, youngJose turned the* tables when he deeid-ed to “get even” and pulled his pocketknife.Jose cut and stabbed Apolonio several time's,' in the neck, shoulders, arms and body. Twice the knife-bladeentered the windpipe, and it is a wonder Apolonnio did not bleed or choketo death. The remarkable paid of thecase is that his life was saved by athrust in the chest, the hole thus madeserving as a means of supplying airto the lungs. When surgical attentionwas finally secured it was found thathis windpipe was completely s-tup with coagulated blood. Respirationas still made, however, and the surgeon found that the hole in the chestwas supplying the air. After the fight Jose disappeared andas no telegrams could be sent, he wasnot apprehended. He is probably wellout of the country by this time.Apolonio was much better today, andthere are strong hopes of his recovery.oSimrle tickets to the Ohautauaua
