ALLEGED FORGER IS CAPTURED THIS WEEK BY BUREAU COUNTY OFFICERSClinton Cassiday, 21 years, a former resident of Arlington and for the past month making his home in Wyanet, is in custody in Bureau county charged with a series of forgeries. Monday morning he was bound over to the grand pry under $2,500 bonds when be was arraigned for a preliminary hearing in Princeton.Cassidav's check operations extended as far east as La Salle, according to the Bureau county sheriff’s office, 1 n that city lie is said to have passed a bogus check at the Penny store, onMarquette street, La Salle. It is alleged that he passed three of the checks in Ladd and another in Cherrv. The amounts ranged from $10 to $25.Cassiday was taken into custody at Wyanet and the sheriff’s office announced that he had confessed thefraudulent, check operations.While Cassiday admits writing five checks there have been only four turned over to State’s Attorney Johnson thus far. One check for $10. drawn on Mike Flaherty in favor of James Brady, at the Farmers Miners bank of Ladd was cashed at the ice cream parlor of Thomas Torri at Ladd. Another on the same bank for $10 payable to John Pinter and signed P#Ti Herlein was cashed at the Lauuti saloon at Ladd, The third one written on a Citizens National Bank cheek which had been changed to Farmers National Bank of Princeton, payable to James Cassiday and signed Abe Nathan for the sum of $15 was cashed at the Flood store at Cherry, The fourt a check on the Arlington State Bank for $15 payable at Jas. Jacoby and signed Albert Me Greedy was cashed in the saloon of Albert Monterastelli at Ladd. The fifth check, which has not yet been located was for something between $15 and $20, the exact amount of which Cassiday had forgotten was signed by Henry Hahn and cashed at the Penny store at La Salle.Cassiday sold a car to Ed Coveny atSpring Valley, which is said to have been mortgaged, and later he purchased a new Ford car which it is alleged he .sold after making a small payment down. The autos were returned to their rightful owners.
