R 14, 1919' — ...........MAN IN JAIL WITH GUNSHOTWOUND IN HIS HIPVA man giving his name as George• • r rTrumphiil sustained a ^vere wound in the hip said to have been caused when Chicken—a Chinaman living on north Idaho street, shot through thedoor of his cabin while the later as*VChicken claims was attempting to force entrance to the place late last Sunday night. Chicken and Chicken Dick, the Chinamen who occupy the cabin, told the police an incoherent story of the affair when they reported it shortly after it oeeured. According to their story it was about midnight when the man gained admittance to the cabin by loudly knocking at the door and stating that he was an officer^ When the door was opened they say the man started a search for money and in the midst of his operations Chicken Dick ran out of the place and the marauder gave chase. Chicken says he then shut and locked t*ie door and got his .32 caliber revolver. After a short time a loud knocking and kicking on the door commenced and Chicken replied witli a volley which ended the affair.Later Trumphiil received medical at-tejision from a local physician and on Monday morning ho was arrested by officers in a rooming house. He is now in the county jail where he is receiving medical attention.The man denies that he attempted to hold up the place or to take anyvaluables. It appears that at the time lie was intoxicated.
