(INS) — The28-year-old college girl bride wholast June 29 told her friends she:was' “entering without fear’* the j“phobic prison” of Professor Wil- 1liam Ellery Leonard who darednot leave an area of six city blocks lest he be bitten by a. locomotive, today had on file a suit to divorce the 60-ycar-old English scholar and contemporary poet.Grace Golden Leonard, 28, the savant's third wife, in her bill, charges Professor Leonard has told friends she is “insane,” uses, abusive language towards him and is wavering in her marital allegiance,” Sheriff Lawrence Larson,, who served the summons on the j professor, revealed Monday. I It was only last December that Prof. Leonard declared “I have passed the walls,” and credited his co-ed bride with curing him of the strange fixation which his second wife, who shared his restricted life for 20 years, called “a brain storm” when she divorced him in 1934.In a strange volume which explained the fear which limited his world to six city blocks Prof. Leonard wrote:“Beyond this I am In a fierce panic of isolation from help and home, and of immediate death.” The volume, entitled, “The Locomotive God,” tells how he was frightened by a locomotive at the age of 3 years and “with gaping jaws flanked with bulging jowls It threatened to swallow me down, to eat me alive—and the thing is God ”His wife’s help in enabling him to break the fixation and escape from his “phobic prison” will enable him to journey to the court house tomorrow to answer the summons to show cause why he should not pay her temporary alimony.
