The scene of the light was at a sale, and the parties were bidding on a horse. The negro stodd'up f or his rVbts » short tune, knocking three of them down; and then seeing he would get the worst of the bar-galu, started and ran. Ho ran about a quarterof a mile, and, giving out, turned upon thosewho were pursuing him with axes, shovels and forks, and flred, killing Miller and wounding another man (an Irishman) dangerously. The pursuiug party then closed in, arrested the negro, and beat and poundhd bun so severely that he has since died, lie was knocked down ant stamped upou by three or four men until the blood gushed from his nose and ears. From the verdict of the jury rendered at the inquest held over the body of Arbuckle, it looks as though a combination had been formed for the purpose of keeping back the facts iu the case. We trust the grand Jury will feel called upon io make a searching inquiry iuto the whole of this affair, and that the guilty parlies shall be made to suffer the penalty of the law.
