Plea Slated On Store Robbery RapLIVERMORE — Basil Smith Jr., the 26-year-old Livermore man accused of the Jan. 10 armed robbery of a local liquor store, is scheduled to enter a plea on the charge March 12 in Livermore Justice Court.Smith, of 421 Junction Ave,, is also expected to enter pleas on three counts of check forgery, the reason for the justice court appearance last week that led to the robbery charge.A police detective attending court noted Smith resembled a description of the robber. He placed Smith in a lineup and after the store owner confirmed the identification, gained a confession from the Livermore man.Armed with a .22 caliber pistol, Smith robbed the Quart House liquor store on First Street of $447 in cash and checks, police say.The forgery charges Involve three checks, totaling $228, chased in two Livermore supermarkets and a local tavern in November 1963 and in February.
