Tuesday, Jun« 27, 19S0AUSTINITES MADE DIRECTORS... % •Policemen From 7 Cities Form State GroupRepresentatives from seven Texaspolice departments organized theTexas Municipal Police Associationat a meeting here Monday.Two Austin policemen were named directors of the new association. which already claims 1.900 members through affiliated organizations They are Lieutenant Reverly Laws and Detective Joe Perry.The organization was formed to unite police associations on the local level into a statewide organization.The association said, in a release, that it would assist every police officer in this state by creating better working conditions for him; to make him more secure in his profession by bringing him under the present state civil service andsalary law,’’About 20 representatives were in Austin for the meeting. They represented police associations at Austin, Houston, Fort Worth, Abilene, Cleburne, San Antonio and Brownsville.Joe Perry said Monday afternoon that the group expected to secure members from cities that already have police associations and from municipal police departments without the associations.Detective Eartv Maughmer of Ho- ston w as named president at the initial session. Other officers are A. C. Howerton of Fort Worth, first vice president; E. E. Peters of San Antonio, second vice president; Raymond Eakin of Abilene, third vice president; Joe Neustupa of Cleburne, fourth vice president: B. Porter of Houston, secretarv-treasurer. and C. E. Neal of Fort Worth, sergeant-at-arms.The board of directors includeI Perry and Laws of Austin; Bob Hernandez of San Antonio, CusKrause Of Brownsville. Jack Lowe Oi Abilene, C. W.
