Layne To Head Ringgold Jaycee ChapterDonald E. Layne, a school teacher, look over the reins of the Ringgold Junior Chamber of Commerce last night while his predecessor, a telephone man, was being cited as the key man in the chapter's best year yet.Layne was installed as president at Mn installation and awards banquet at the Green Lantern Motel near Chatham,A member of the faculty at Dan River High School, he succeeds Bobby Gene Atkinson, an employe of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. and a live wire with the Ringgold Jaycees.The latter description of Atkinson was made by Wesley Moshenek in presented the outgoing president with the Key Man Award, the most coveted internal award given by the chapter.“This was the chapter’s greatest year and he was theNO DOWN PAYMENTRegular $1095.003-Room GroupFURNITUREkey man responsible for it/1 Moshenek said of Atkinson.Layne also was an award winner, receiving the Spoke Award that goes to the most outstanding first-year member. Moshenek meanwhile won the Speak-Up Jaycee Award.Atkinson, Layne, Moshenek and Bobby Scearee, Bucky Shriver, Garvin Deliis and Buddy Clark all received Spark Plug Awards.Finally, awards that only the years can bring were presented to Bill Wilson and Thomas Barker.
