Miller testified he took Patnode into custody in the Charlotte area on Nov. 10 after spotting the defendant’s pickup truck near a convenience food market that police had been checking for the vehicle.Brennan later told the jurors that Syracuse police had traced Patnode to North Carolina, because he was using some credit cards-The jurors today also got their first ghmpse of the knife used in • the slaying of McLaughlin.Miller testified he found the weapon in Patnode's rear pocket ' when he searched him at the time of the arrest In his confession, Patnode admitted the weapon was the one he took from McLaughlin's purse.Duncan was expected to conclude his case with testimony from the medical examiner about how = McLaughlin was stabbed twice in the neck and once in the back.
