Corcoran today announced the graduation of seven Vermont State Police officers from an intensive four-week scuba diving training course given by the New York State Police held at the new Stf e Police Training Academy (xi die state campus at Albany with simulated practical training at Lake George.The seven Vermont officers plus 18 New York State Police officers lived and studied at the campus for three weeks, then moved the operation to Lake George for one week. The officers covered every phase of diving in the classroom and then applied the training while at the lake under actual conditions onsimulated missions.Cpl. A. Truman Way III from St. Albans, one of the original members of the Vermont State Police Scuba Diving Team formed some 15 years ago, was graduated as an instructor and will be responsible for additional training for the Vermont officers.Commissioner Corcoran said the school is considered one of the most intensive and advanced forscuba diving in the East and feels that Vermont was fortunate to have had the opportunity for Vermont officers to receive this training.Vermont State Police are called upon to perform varying missions in Vermont’s rivers, lakes and ponds.Corcoran and New York StatePolice Superintendent William E.
