Jr., 19-year-old“paper sack” bandit who robbedthe First National Bank here of’ $1,800 last August 19, was sen-lenced Mondny in Judge Earl P.Hall’s 97th District Court to tenyears in the state penitentiary for his crime.cis1I.Proceeding this sentence Beard received a sentence of ten years 11 for ,the r°bbery of the Nocona“ bank on October 29th. of last year. Beard pled guilty in■ both cases and waived trial byn I jury on the Bowie bank indict-0 ! ment.He is already under heavy sentence following trial in Wichita County for numerous hijackings of Wichita Falls stores and theatres to which he hps admitted guilt.$. Beard was captured in Wichita Falls last November 30th by Wichita Falls detectives following a ten month crime wave that included the robbery of bnaks at Bowie, Stjomford and Nocona and other robberies in Wichita Falls, Fort Worth, Waco,Amarillo Sherman Abilene. Lubbock and other points. Following a six hour questioning Beardmade a confession of the chain of lootings.Defense counsel for the defended, Judge Bernard Martin, assisted by his son, Howard Martin, of Wichita Falls, made aplea for leniency to the jury because of the defendent’s youth-fnlness and his unfavorable en-viornment. He asked the jurv not to entirely shut the door of hope in the boy’s face by assessing the life penalty, asked by State Prosecutor Louis T.
