This they refused to do, and made a run for it. The deputy sheriff, calling a Sheldon town policeman to his assistance, jumped into another car and gave chase. About halfway . between Sheldon and Rock Valley they overhauled Kauffman’s car and forced him to stop. As soon as the car came to a halt Rollinger jumped out and ran through a cornfield, making good his escape. Kauffman was arrested.The O’Brien county officers then came to LeMars and got Rollin-gsr.Mourning over his arrest, Jack Kauffman ventured the opinion tiiat a jinx is certainly pursueing- the past , ; eighteenmonths I’ve ‘ spent twelve months in jail.
