Waterloo Girl Is Sought in Case of Drowned ManmmRockford, III., Aug. k—^—Police today were seeking a Waterloo,'■ la., girl, writer of a letter addressed i to Hugh Rausch, who was found deadat Lake Pepin, Minn., Wednesday i under mysterious circumstances.Following the finding of the letter, police last night considered the pos-: sibility that the girl, too. might have ! died in the lake. It was recalled that » a woman's screams were heard In the vicinity the night Rausch was he-I lieved to have been murdered and that toilet articles of a woman anda photograph were found in Rausch's j car.The contents of the letter were not divulged. Officers said, however, j j that the girl was on a vacation and was expected back in Indianapolis Saturday. They said her parents livein the Indiana city. Rausch's former home, when letters purporting to be from her were found in Rausch’s room at Rockford.!Letters received by Mrs. Emil O Starofer, sister of Mrs. Thresher, have given no hint of unusual circumstances, Mrs. Schroeder said today.Miss Thresher, she said, had seen Rausch, who also was known as Harry Hauser, only once as far as she knew. Their acquaintance was cnlv a casual one. Mrs. Schroeder] said, although they had correspondedj at intervals for two years.My sister started on her vacation ilast Saturday. Mrs. Schroeder said.!
