He implicated Cerio in U | seven of the robberies, ti\ The roundup came through the quick thinking and acting of Carl Rocsch, 17. of 715 'fully Street, aclerk in the McLaughlin Luneheon-M|ette at 950 East Genesee Street. After closing the shop Tuesday night, Roesch was standing at East Genesee Street and South Crouse P Avenue waiting for a bus when he h observed two figures in the alley ' back of the lunch room. He hurried to a drugstore and called the police.Patrolman William Miller was passing in a scout car when the radio report came in, and he rushed into the alley in time to catch Valerino. The youth with him escaped, but from Valerino the police learned his identity, and Patrolman Joseph Brilbeck and Acting Detectives' Thomas Leach and Lawrence Connolly yesterday took Bittle to headquarters. There the pair made statements that they had planned the luncheonette robbery, according to Deputy ChiefJohn A. Kinney,District Attorney Vharles A. Mc-Nett said the youths would be arraigned tomorrow. Bittle is named in three warrants charging attempted burglary, third degree, in connection with the attempt to enter the McLaughlin restaurant; burglary, third degree, for participating in the burglary of a gasoline station at 1640 Erie Boulevard East on April 3 and another r^J burglary, third degree charge re-^ suiting from the burglary of Connelly’s restaurant, 1807 South Avenue, on March 28.Dalton is charged with burglary, third degree, for participation, with Bittle, in the gasoline station burglary; Cerio faces the same charge for his part in the Connelly’s restaurant theft with Bittle, and Valerino is charged with attempted burglary, third degree, resulting from the attempt, with Bittle, to enter the McLaughlin restaurant.In his statement, Bittle implicated Dalton as being with him in a burglary of a gasoline station operated by R. D. Murdoch at 1640 Erie Boulevard East on April 2. At that time $33 was taken from a pinball machine. Dalton was taken in custody yesterday by Acting Detectives Francis Garn, Francis Guilfoyle and Edward Ryan. He made a statement admitting he took part in the Murdoch burglary. Under questioning by Clerk ofDetectives Daniel Sherlock, Bittle listed 17 burglaries or attempted burglaries in various places, mostly filling stations, in the city.
