Awful Train Wreck Leaves Several Injured in Medicine Hat

Conductor Kenny and Brakeman Morris escaped serious harm while Brakeman Squires suffered multiple fractures. Fireman Cornish endured severe leg injuries, with amputation performed. Locomotive Foreman Patterson was seriously hurt. Night Operator McDonald missing. Funeral held for Oliver and another victim. Community fund proposed for a headstone and relief.

Labor Day parade highlights shine across Cranbrook streets

Cranbrook hosted a large Labor Day parade with the Italian Fer nie band and local fire department displays. The day featured horse drawn entries, a hose race, and a hub and hub competition amid crowds and judges from Moyie Fernie and Cranbrook.

Reel Races Enduro in Dispute over Harvie Cup

Two water relay events at Cranbrook drew three entries Merne Moyie and Cranbrook with prizes including the Harvie cup and a fireman’s megaphone. Cranbrook won the wet test Moyie the dry. timekeeping sparked protest leading to a Moyie decision and a Labor Day committee inquiry.
