Man to Hang for Murder at Nelson January
Italian immigrant Viwno Cutri was found guilty of murder in Fernie and sentenced by Justice Murphy to be hanged at Nelson on January 6. The trial and verdict mark Nelson’s first hanging in over eleven years.

Robbers Blow Cranbrook Laundry Safe
Robbers used nitroglycerin to blast the Cranbrook Steam Laundry safe on Friday night taking 51.55 and several cheques. A pedestrian found the bag and cheques Saturday morning and returned them to the business. Police sought the culprits as neighbors heard the blast at 2:30 am.

Fatal shooting accident near Kitchener claims life
Edgar Rawles died after a self inflicted gunshot wound while grouse hunting with a 22 calibre Stevens pistol. The incident occurred about six miles from Kitchener and led to his removal to St Eugene hospital where he died at noon. His brother F B Rawles of Athalmer awaits funeral in Creston proceedings.

An enthusiastic Cranbrook Rifle Association meeting in the city hall on Monday the 27th passed the bye-laws. Mr Baker offered a prize for best shooting at 500 yards, to be held on Empire Day. A vote of thanks was given to Mr Baker. Next Saturday the regular shoot will feature a hand-painted cushion prize for the day’s highest aggregate score. Last Tuesday range attendance was good with shooting at 20 and 600 yards, the first shoot from the latter range with excellent scores.
