Private boys boarding school offers modern methods, refined masters, good meals, home care, airy dorms, well designed classrooms. Emphasizes cricket football boating swimming and military drill with patrons Rev C J Brenton Vancouver and Rev HL Beacham referenced.
A strenuous Cranbrook day featured a morning foot race with thousands bet, follow on to strong horse events, and a boxed contest that sparked controversy over a false start and afterward. Judges ruled Nevin the winner by default amid backers disputing payouts and calls for refunds.
The bout between Fitzgerald Jac Lewis and Ritz was halted early by a foul, with the decision awarded to Fitzgerald. Referee W. W. Tuttle received praise as the crowd cheered. Admission was 1.50 general, 2.00 front rows, 2.50 ring seats. the hall was lightly filled and orderly.
Victoria October 22 The Doukabors of Assiniboia petitioned to move to British Columbia claiming religious bans prevent worship as their faith requires obeying only divine law. The BC executive declined to entertain the proposition.
A Cranbrook banquet honored H Haines C Coleman and James Hunter as they depart for new positions with the Canadian Bank of Commerce and the C P R. The crowd of about forty heard toasts to the guests and to various local interests before adjournment. Also noted were gold dust consignments by Dave Griffith and local town progress reports from Creston B C.

James Gill hosted a stag party for about thirty guests in honor of H. Haines former Cranbrook branch manager of the Canadian Bank of Commerce. The evening featured music cards anecdotes and goodwill remarks followed by an elegant lunch. The social event was a great success.
M McInnes tells Herald that his market is independent of J Burns Co and not linked to any meat firm. The ad promotes Sweyn Griffiths winter suits, claims everyone wins, and notes no price changes for Amber Tobacco products. Snowshoe tag redemptions extended to January 1 1894 by The Empire Tobacco Co Limited.
