Fire season review 1914 Cranbrook forest district
The Alberta to Kootenay Landing region saw over 300 fires in 1914 with about 58 000 acres burned. Government cost to fight fires was roughly 20 000 dollars after railway and logging operation cost sharing. Eight and a quarter million feet of standing timber were killed, of which two and a quarter million feet may not be logged due to inaccessibility.

Interesting Meeting Of The Womens Institute Sets New Plans
The regular monthly meeting at Maple hall drew about forty six members and visitors. Mrs Seaman greeted all, minutes were approved, and Mrs Gee Hougham became standard bearer for the Union Jack. A lively program featured readings songs and a five cent fine scheme. The fancy work class will meet weekly for Red Cross garments. Two new members joined as tea and songs closed the event.

Canada to send second expeditionary force details
Canada plans a second expeditionary force totaling 22 000 men to join the front, bringing total forces to over 50 000.
