Reminiscence of the Lost White Oak Log Raft Found
N W Trimble, grandson of lumberman Joseph Demister, spent months locating a raft of white oak logs sunk in Lake Scugog near Windsor. The raft, buried thirty feet deep under mud, holds thousands of logs each about 160 cubic feet, worth about one dollar per cubic foot. Trimble plans to move to Lake Scugog to retrieve the timber with barges and hoists.

A search by Trow’s crew and local residents lasted overnight until daylight when he returned claiming he was not lost. He had wandered three miles below Old Town and six miles from Stone, arriving safely for a late lunch.
