Andrew Bonar Law born 1858 in New Brunswick was elected leader of the Unionist party in London. The move followed calls for a third leader after Joseph Chamberlain’s death. Law, an iron merchant from Glasgow, later served as parliamentary secretary at the Board of Trade and represented Blackfriars Glasgow and Dulwich Camberwell.

A Cranbrook Agricultural association gathering was held last evening at the Hotel Cranbrook committee rooms. The principal business was the auditor's report. The full receipts and expenditures are printed below with the balance to be published next week.
After adopting the auditor’s report the association moved to open a regular books system to record all financial transactions. The session also appointed F. I. Deane as the delegate to attend the Fall Fairs convention in Victoria in January.

The board has secured block 48 in the southern part of the city for school use. Officials say the need is greatest there for more accommodations and will move quickly to meet requirements.
