Marine disaster in Puget Sound sinks coast vessel

In heavy fog a Japanese liner rammed a coast vessel off Seattle in Puget Sound and sank her in 180 feet of water. No lives were lost. Experts say the cargo, worth $500000, of canned salmon will be a total loss.

Victory Loan appeal outlines goals for Monday to Saturday

The document calls for at least 500 million dollars to be raised by Saturday night to bring troops home, support European peace, sustain industry and munition workers, fund Britain’s food purchases, and secure orders for rebuilding Belgium and France. On Armistice news the town planned a jubilant parade led by Chief Hersey. Bells rang and horns tooted as autos and patriotic groups marched from government house to the station. A bonfire ignited as the Kaiser was burned in effigy and the National Anthem was sung.
