Plans Set Afoot For Y M C A Boys Camp This Summer
The Cranbrook Y M C A boys department plans a summer camp in late July and early August. The site favors trees water and a sandy beach for boating and swimming. Discipline is on honor with rigid swimming rules. Daily hymns talks and tent nights foster character building under J M Clark. Activities include sports games swims and campfire stories with a structured daily schedule.

City Eyes Ten Acre Fair Grounds Purchase
The Cranbrook and District Agricultural Association seeks the city to buy ten acres east of the government building for fair grounds and park use. The land could be secured for 3700 dollars with 10000 dollars by law funds to build fair buildings and a race track. New Drug Store to Open in Cranbrook Next Week
J B Haslam announces a new drug store opening at the former Binning building beside the Rex Theatre on Norbury Avenue. The site will offer ice cream, sodas, lunches and candy starting the 24th, with full rugs and stationery to follow on June 1st. Haslam, a fourteen year Cranbrook resident and 1918 Ontario College of Pharmacy graduate, will run the business personally.

Local School Cadet Corps inspected by Victoria director
Lieut Col Belson, organizer of the School Cadet Corps in this province, visited the city Monday and inspected the Central School unit. Thirty of thirty four cadets attended and Belson praised their efficiency. A local summer camp will be held at Moyle Lake after school, with militia grant support. Mr. W. T. Arthurs and others to attend. Rifles are delayed en route from the east. C. B. Simpson of Wattaburg was in town last Saturday.

Daughter of Fenwick Family Dies at Hospital
Mary Fenwick ten years old daughter of Mr and Mrs A Burroughs Fenwick of Fort Steele district died at the hospital Tuesday morning May 17 after appendicitis surgery. She had been cared for by her aunt Mrs Derosiers of Jaffray and was brought in a week earlier from there. Funeral was held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Catholic Church with burial in the local Catholic cemetery. This is the second loss for the Fenwick family in recent times.

Death of Helen Morrison Shocks Small Town
Death occurred Monday May 16 in the Morrison home of Helen Patricia Morrison aged nine after a diphtheria illness following measles. Despite a brief improvement she succumbed to heart weakness as quarantine and anti toxin were used and funeral was held Tuesday conducted by Rev. E W MacKay. The family and many neighbors mourn the loss of their bright schoolgirl and friend.

Invermere Bride Receiving Shower Ahead of June Wedding
In Invermere British Columbia on May 14 the district ladies held a shower at the Invermere Golf House for Miss Nora Eileen Hope as she prepares to wed Mr. Percy Docking of the town. Gifts were plentiful and well chosen. The ceremony is set for Saturday June 4. Docking is a Great War veteran who enlisted with the 48th Battalion and served in South Africa.
