The Crinbrook Board of School Trustees met in the council chamber Friday evening. After approving minutes and a window repair cost discussion, they debated teacher salary cuts with disagreement. They proposed scale cuts 5 to 15 percent by amount, but no final decision. adjourned 11:30 p.m. with further talks promised.

Remains of Emma Prest Laid to Rest
The funeral of the late Miss Emma Prest was held from the Wil son residence at 2 30 o clock and at the Methodist church at 3. The service conducted by Rev W E Dunham and Rev D M Perley was impressive with Chopin Funeral March and Handel Dead March in Saul. Prest who came to Cranbrook in 1902 was a respected teacher treasurer of the Sunday School and long time choir member. The service honored her devout Christian life and broad community regard with large floral tributes and pallbearers J J McBride W G Morton J A McKowan Seth Ryckman G W Patterson Robert McCreery.

Delegates from Columbia Cranbrook and Fernie met at Mathesons hall to form a central East Kootenay Liberal Association. Officers were elected including Laurier as Hon. President and Macdonald of Cranbrook as President. The group adopted the BC Liberal bylaws, set dues at 25, and outlined structure for a future nominating convention with a nine member executive and twenty delegates per riding.

Tennis season opened in Cranbrook with mixed handicap
The Cranbrook Tennis Club opened last Saturday with an American mixed handicap tournament. Over fifty spectators attended as twenty two players entered a club record. Miss H Giegerich and Mr McEwen won, with prizes donated by Mr Raworth and Mr H Gordon Mecredy to be contested through the season under a monthly challenge list and rules.

Cranbrook's honor roll gains names of fallen and wounded from local men in the first and second contingents. David J. Blayney died at eighteen after leaving Cranbrook for service. Recruiting Push For 64th Battalion At Cranbrook
Recruiting for the 64th battalion continues with about thirty men in drills and over forty signed, to be added after medicals. Major Pearce arrives from Victoria to train the locals, Capt. Davies departs for Roga land to aid recruiting, Lieut. Smith oversees the office. Transfers include Robert McKay to the 54th Battalion and new 107th regimental appointments gazetted. Cranbrook may become concentration camp for the 4th battalion with 1,000 men expected in two weeks, amid BC training camp selection disputes.
