Old Time Fort Steele Resident Joseph Tannhauger Dies
German born J Tannhauger a longtime Fort Steele resident for about thirty years died Tuesday after a stroke aged 76. He survived by a wife died in 1918 and children in Fort Steele Cassidy Calgary Milwaukee and Vancouver. Funeral Friday at noon in local parlors then train to Vancouver for interment. Mrs Staples and her granddaughter visited from Calgary.

Elko Power Plant Begins Generating for Commercial Use
At 2 40 am on March 10 East Kootenay Power Company started commercial power generation at the Elko plant for 15 000 horsepower with 7 500 hp now available. The system serves Crow's Nest Pass coal mines and the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co concentrator. A 12 foot wood stave pipeline nearly 1 200 feet long feeds water to turbines rated at 7 500 hp each with 6 000 kilowatt generators and remote controlled switching.

Fire at the Bull River planing mill was discovered around 7 40 am and spread quickly. The mill was totally destroyed within an hour though employees prevented spread to adjacent CP1 mill assets and moved rolling stock to safety. Loss estimated at twenty five to thirty thousand dollars.
