Pledging Gratitude From French Refugee Family

Sixty five recruits delayed by train blockade join Nelson contingent
Sixty five local recruits were due to depart for Comox but train disruptions on the coast delay their move. They are housed in the Campbell-Manning block with ample meals and facilities. Privates Keddie, Canning, Long and Elmer Smith act as military police to aid local order while recruiting continues, with 122 total on the roll.

Death of Mrs Bridge in Cranbrook
Rev W H Bridge rector of Christ Church mourns the loss of his wife Florence Annie aged 38. Surviving are two children and a sister Miss Roberts. Born in Sussex England she came to Cranbrook last summer. Funeral services were held with Arch Deacon Beer and Rev A B Lane officiating the Anglican burial.
