J. H. King quotes claim the Cranbrook District faced unfair treatment by the Mc Bride Government. He alleges the Karen scandal pressured Bob Green from cabinet and implicates Dick McBride in the deal as well.
The Cranbrook Liberal convention nominated J H King for the local assembly. George Hoggarth presided. A L McDermot was secretary. The crowd numbered 150 to 175 with strong support and cheers for King.
Unanimous backing and cheering followed three awards and a tiger given to the nominee. Dr. King arrived moments before and marched to the stage amid sustained applause. Men stood on seats and waved hats as the crowd expressed intense enthusiasm for the candidate. The speaker had just returned from New Brunswick and paused long after taking the stage.
Mr Macdonald spoke to a crowded Nelson audience with Dr Hall as Liberal candidate. He attacked the McBride-Hawthornthwaite government, defended party lines, and condemned railway subsidies to the Canadian Pacific Railway while promising reform and accountability for province finances. The talk ran over an hour amid cheers and strong worded critique of past conduct.
