Funeral of Accident Victim Held in Cranbrook
The funeral of John Mc Bacher who died in a Christmas Day auto accident at Sand Creek on the Jaffray road was held Monday afternoon at Cranbrook Cemetery. Members of Cranbrook Masonic Lodge attended and read the Masonic funeral service at the cemetery. Pallbearers were all Masons: W F Cameron, L Clapp, N A Wallinger, H B Hicks, A A MacKinnon, and J S Newman.

George Bruce Brown a longtime Cranbrook businessman and Western pioneer died New Year’s Eve at St Eugene hospital after illness from plural pneumonia. He worked with Wasson Parks and IF Parks Co for decades and served Cranbrook Retail Merchants Association. Survived by father, sisters, and brothers in Vancouver and Seattle. Funeral held in Cranbrook before body shipped to Vancouver for interment.

The Great War Veterans Association held its annual meeting on Thursday evening with a large attendance. Officers elected included Hon. A banquet followed with about 100 attendees and speeches by visitors such as Mayor Cameron. Obituary of Elof Bergstrom A Bull River Resident
Elof Bergstrom died at St. Eugene hospital Wednesday evening from peritonitis. Born in Sweden in 1807, he lived briefly in Bull River after returning from Canada a year ago. He worked as a tie maker before hospital admission. He leaves a brother Advin in Sweden. The funeral took place on Friday.

Amateur Athletic Assoc takes over rink for season
The Crabrook Amateur Athletic Association has taken over the Cranbrook rink bringing improvements such as sheet ice and spectator walks. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 26 cents for children under eleven with skating daily except Wednesdays and Fridays. Season tickets are on sale, weather permitting.

Lumber production and exports rise in Cranbrook district report
Mr Norman Moore reports Cranbrook forestry district produced 173 million board feet of lumber last year up from 163 million. Sawlogs totaled 127.6 million feet. shipments mainly go to U.S. points and the Prairie Provinces with a total export value around 1.3 million dollars. The district remains the province’s second largest timber area with new forest reserves being created to protect watersheds.
