Archer Ranch Spreads Fame of Shorthorn Cattle
Invermere British Columbia Reb 17 Mr Fred Archer of Canal Fluty near here is among the district’s largest purebred Shorthorn raisers. His herd, led by Sam Northman and Lavender Master No 102091, is widely known as offspring are distributed locally. The Findlay Creek ranch features a modern thirty three foot silo. He filled it with five acres of sunflowers peas and oats yielding twelve tons. Archer reports his 148 head herd survived winter in good condition and calves have begun arriving. The silage aids milk supply for calves necessitating daily stripping of mothers. He plans to place Windermere district on the provincial market for purebred Shorthorn sires and dams and possibly ship carloads of beef.
