The program featured nine year old Patricia McDermot as a standout dancer, plus costumes, quick-change acts, and a three hour showcase of twenty numbers. Soldiers and Cranbrook residents mingled as the informal reception committee introduced guests and the 107th Regiment enjoyed an ornate Valentine atmosphere. The Cranbrook orchestra under Arnold Wallinger played a popular program while St John Ambulance ladies supervised refreshments.

Wardner Man Killed in Action Bour Identified
Paul George Bour formerly of the Crows Next Pass Lumber Company Wardner was killed in action at Toul on January 17. He served as a sergeant in the French Infantry Battalion after reporting for service at Vancouver. Bour was a reservist and well known in Cranbrook, visited the city several times.

Old East Kootenay resident Stacy dies at 83
J C Stacy aged 83 died Friday morning at Mr J Taylor's home in this city after 49 years in the district. He mined and farmed, later living in retirement near Cranbrook. Funeral at Beatty parlors and Christchurch, interment in Church of England cemetery, Rev A B Lane officiating. He was a Life Guardsman pensioner and widely respected.

C. L. Cowan Elected Moderator by Kootenay Presbytery

German Arrives With British Crew Aboard Holger
The German steamer Holger arrived at Buenos Aires carrying crews and passengers from British ships sunk in the Atlantic by German warships. Among those aboard is the Highland Brae crew from London, which departed January 8 for Buenos Aires. The Highland Brae was a 7365 ton vessel owned by the Nelson Steam Navigation Company of London.
