Strike Breakers Stay on the Job at CTR Depot

Strikers attempted to intercept a westbound carload destined for Wycliffe but the shipment was diverted to camps 17 miles beyond. About 67 Staples Lumber Co. workers were added to payroll as strikers failed to stop the transfer. The ramped activity drew criticism over mob pressure and interference with transportation.

Junior Musical Society Concert Planned in Cranbrook

A program arranged by the Junior Musical Society of Cranbrook will be held at the Auditorium on February 22 and 23. Under Mr G E Bower the event features eighty performers in costumes with an eighteen piece orchestra and includes a Japanese operetta Princess Chrysanthemum. Booking opens February 18 at 10 o clock.

Cranbrook B C June 24 There are more men out than any time since the strike began and no new entrants. Bosses advertise for workers but Winnipeg crews ferryed here are unloaded at Medicine Hat. Strike funds remain robust and solidarity grows. Wentworth Hotel dining room opened to feed up to a hundred at a time and Feeding across the territory reaches five hundred strikers.

Eight-year-old Wilmot Wilson dies after appendix surgery

The obituary reports the death of Wilmot Charles Wilson at age eight after an appendectomy and pneumonia. He was a Central School student, promoted recently, and survived by his parents and a younger brother. The funeral was private from Lumsden Avenue with interment in the Knights of Pythias plot.

City seeks reconsideration of liquor profits deduction

The city asked for a Liquor Control Board reconsideration of its profit deduction. The board replied that cost details in each municipality are confidential and not for public release. It notes Cranbrook and Fernie incur high operating costs next to Vancouver. A water mains issue in Slaterville will be addressed at a March 6 meeting with residents expected to attend.
