Mines reports from J P Bailey on the Pretoria claim near Swansea show galena improving with depth. Hamiltons predict a large ore body at Palmer mountain. J J Murphy on Iron Mountain near Moyie has 13 feet shaft, two feet ore, and widening vein. Also UK dispatches describe Nooitgedacht fighting and Boer advances. Local notes mention taxes, coal reserves, an onion sociable game trend, and Cranbrook turkey shoot next Saturday.

Store flooded with electric lights at night making it easy to view gifts and attract children with its festive display. F E Simpson is now sole owner of the Cranbrook Herald and the Leader congratulates him. He has worked for himself since coming to South East Kootenay and for the welfare of Cranbrook and the district. The Herald is influential and a factor in regional development.
In the Christmas and New Year period the Canadian Pacific railway sets local round trip single fare rates. Tickets may be bought December 22 to 25 and return by January 3, or December 26 to 31 and January 1 with return by January 3.
